Description
On the appearance displays deep brown with a slightly reddish hue dense and opaque. A few dashes add instant aromatic richness to cocktails or desserts. The nose is bold and seductive, opening with dark chocolate, cacao husk, and coffee roast. As it evolves, notes of clove, cinnamon, molasses, and subtle dried orange peel emerge. There’s an earthy bitterness layered beneath the sweetness, similar to raw cocoa nibs and well-aged bark spices. On the palate, Angostura Cocoa Bitters is bitter, dark, and warming, delivering a dominant flavor of unsweetened dark chocolate with accents of espresso bean, nutmeg, and gentian root. There's a clear botanical edge, integrating well with both brown spirits and coffee-based applications. The bitterness is assertive but not aggressive.
